Corralea Cottages & Corralea Activity Centre Ltd are family run businesses situated on the shores of Upper Lough Macnean set in 16 acres of natural woodland. Corralea Activity Centre offers a range of eco-friendly Outdoor Activities on site and Corralea Cottages have 4 self-catering cottages on the same site.

Our site

We are constantly trying to reduce our Carbon Footprint and encourage our customers to do likewise. This is achieved by promoting the 3 Rs: Reduce, Re-use and Recycle.

Our Outdoor activities

Our activities are all eco-friendly and offered on site.

We purposely refrain from motorised activities on the lake to safeguard the quality of the water and the peacefulness which surrounds us.
We are deliberately keeping our numbers small to offer our customers a quality and authentic experience which will help regenerate our area without swamping it with mass tourism.

Water

Conserving water: water flow from taps/ toilets
Our average consumption of water is 0.094m3 Lt per person including our 2 households on Corralea premises.

Energy

Conserving energy: low energy lights/ sensor lights, Class A appliances, efficient boilers, solar panels, insulation, green electricity.
Our energy consumption in 2019 was an average of 1.67 KwH per person including our 2 households on Corralea premises.

Recycle, FREE cycle & Up cycle

Reducing waste, re-use & recycle glass, metal, plastics, use of recycled paper, etc..
Most of our administrative forms are paperless. Our fire pits are up cycled from washing machine drums.

Green activities

We encourage our customers to re-connect & respect Nature and get immersed in the natural environment whilst enjoying canoeing, biking, climbing, archery, SUP.

Transport

We aim to reduce travel impacts and encourage use of sustainable mode of transport. All our activities (except mountain biking) are on site using canoes or bikes.
On site Bike hire for children is discounted to incite families to explore our forest trails.

Our Future

Corralea centre is now run by our children and retains the same strong family ethos, genuine interest in protecting our environment and a strong belief in sustainable and responsible tourism.
